"Instead of taking this matter seriously, career politician Jim Gerlach and his campaign decided to try to distract the public from a complicated issue. This is exactly why so many people are frustrated with Washington politicians — they'd rather play games than take on the issues affecting our communities."

"If the allegations about this company are true, then a great disservice has been done to our community. Companies that employ undocumented workers and guide them on how to operate outside the law are only encouraging more immigrants to pursue jobs in our country illegally. And with so many in our community already looking for job opportunities just like these, it is outrageous that any company would skirt the law by hiring undocumented workers. In any instance where there are questions regarding a company's hiring practices, it's imperative that the company be investigated thoroughly by the proper authorities."

"With our economy so saddled with debt, the federal government has to be a better steward of the people's money and restore balance to our budget, and the tens of billions of dollars that will be saved under this law is a crucial piece of that. But more work must be done. In Congress, I will stand up to out-of-control government spending, increase accountability and transparency in contracting and expenditures, and restore basic fiscal sense to our government."

"Small business owners and hard-working families across the 6th district have all told me the same thing: that to spur small business growth and reboot our economy, simpler, more readily-understandable banking practices have to be in place."

In a fundraising quarter that saw him win a competitive primary election against an opponent with a $1 million campaign effort, Manan Trivedi continued to demonstrate his momentum and grassroots support moving into the November general election by raising over $434,000.

"Small businesses drive our local economy and we have to start representing them in a way that reflects their impact," said Manan Trivedi. "Jim Gerlach unfortunately decided to side with the guys in the high finance industry instead of the hardworking folks right here at home. "

"Jim, what you did today was attempt to punish both consumers and small business owners ... all in just one vote, and all because you wanted to protect the high finance special interests who have been funding your elections for over 20 years. Having grown up serving this community, I know the difference between what works for my friends and neighbors, as opposed to someone like you, Jim, who is working for the special interests which have kept you safely employed in the old ways of Washington politics."

"Since Representative Gerlach has taken $17,500 in contributions from Congressman Joe Barton's political organization, Gerlach owes Pennsylvania voters more than just silence in response to Barton's indefensible apology to British Petroleum," said Trivedi spokesperson, Ed Niles. "Voters deserve to know if Jim Gerlach's loyalty runs deeper with British Petroleum apologist Joe Barton or with the people of this district who want to hold the oil giant accountable for every dime's worth of damage."

"As Americans across the country prepare to honor the sacrifice of our fallen soldiers on Memorial Day, Jim Gerlach was in Washington playing politics by voting against a bill that would bring well deserved pay increases to military families, and voting against the bill to fund our troops on the battlefield," said former Naval Lt. Commander and battalion surgeon Manan Trivedi. "The over 60,000 veterans and active duty service members in Pennsylvania's 6th district deserve better from their Representative in Congress."

I applaud fellow Iraq War veteran, Congressman Patrick Murphy for the courage to push forward his amendment allowing for the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" today in the House of Representatives. This policy has cost our nation so much since it was enacted in 1994. Over 14,000 highly motivated and skilled servicemembers have been released from the military as a result of the policy, and a 2005 report by the GAO estimates that taxpayers have spent $1.2 billion in the process of investigation, termination, and the training of replacements as a result of this policy.

When Wall Street special interests want someone to carry their water in Washington, they have always had a friend in Congressman Jim Gerlach. But despite growing public support for regulatory reform on Wall Street, Jim Gerlach continues to oppose reforms that will prevent future meltdowns and make sure tax payers aren't forced to bailout Wall Street again in the future, but only now he's hiding from his position.

"I think voters across this district made a clear choice for a change in the type of Representation they want in Washington. People are tired of career politicians and Washington insiders, it's clear that they are looking for a new breed of civil servant. Someone who has the real world experience to tackle the problems we face and the courage to state their beliefs clearly regardless of which way the political winds are blowing."

"As a battalion surgeon during the Iraq War, I was able to meet some of the finest Americans that our country has to offer. Any person who devotes their life to serving in the military; whether it's the Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force or Coast Guard, they all deserve our gratitude not just today, but each and every day."

Going into the final full week of campaigning during the primary election season, Manan Trivedi has received the endorsement from two very influential women and an organization devoted to advocating for women's equality.

Yesterday, Manan Trivedi spoke at the grand opening of his campaign's Montgomery County field office - 1 E Lancaster Ave, Ardmore, PA 19003. This Montgomery County office is one of two the campaign opened over the weekend to accommodate the many supporters and volunteers that want to help spread the word about Manan Trivedi's campaign before the May 18th primary. Trivedi took time between campaign events to address volunteers attending the initial phone bank in the new office.
The new Montgomery County office joins another new field office in Berks County - 2252 Perkiomen Ave Reading, PA 19606. These offices will allow the Trivedi campaign to conduct an aggressive voter outreach campaign in the final push before the May 18th primary.

Manan and Surekha Trivedi are very proud to announce the birth of their first daughter today. Sonia Kalpana Trivedi weighed in at 6 lbs 4 oz and is a very healthy addition to their family. Mother and daughter are doing well. Manan is already inquiring as to when he may be able to show off his new baby girl on the campaign trail.

READING, Pa - Influential community organizations to individual community leaders alike, Democrat Manan Trivedi continues to receive key endorsements that will prove to be a valuable asset to the campaign's ground game with just a little more than one month before the May 18 primary. From the Liberty City Democrats to the Greater Reading PAC (GRPAC) to a Democratic party chairperson, a state Representative and twenty-four more committee people, Trivedi is picking up momentum at a critical time in the election season.

Building upon his support within the organized labor movement, Manan Trivedi today announced two more key endorsements. The Transport Worker Union, Local 234, with 5,200 members, and Iron Workers Local 405, both affiliates of the AFL-CIO, are backing the Berks County Democrat in the upcoming May 18th primary election.

The largest progressive group of veterans in America, VoteVets.org PAC, today endorsed Dr. Manan Trivedi in his campaign for Congress from Pennsylvania's Sixth Congressional District.
"Manan is a rare breed," said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets.org. "As a doctor and a veteran, Manan has a unique and first-hand experience on some of the major issues of our time. For veterans, his understanding of the wounds of war and what it takes to treat them will make him an exemplary Congressman for all veterans. For his district, he will prove to be a fighter - like he's always been."

"The bill that passed the House today is a good start, but I will work to make it better once I am in Congress," declared Trivedi. "In my opinion, healthcare reform begins with this legislation, it does not end with this legislation. Going forward we need to do more to address rapidly rising healthcare costs by passing a robust, Medicare-like public option and investing more in comparative effectiveness research to better figure out what truly works and doesn't work in healthcare. We must also strengthen our public health efforts, expand our primary care workforce and further investigate the overall social determinants of health to assure that epidemics like childhood obesity and the rising tide of chronic diseases like diabetes do not overwhelm the healthcare system of the future," Trivedi concluded.

In the race for the Democratic nomination in Pennsylvania's Sixth district, the Ironworkers Local Union 401 has endorsed Manan Trivedi.
"Manan Trivedi is the only candidate in this race who has created and released a comprehensive jobs plan, and has demonstrated to our membership that he understands the needs of working families," said Ironworkers Secretary Treasurer, Joseph Dougherty.

In the race for Pennsylvania's 6th congressional district, two county Democratic Party organizations have gathered to endorse a candidate for the May 18th primary election. And with over 73% of the vote at the Montgomery County Democratic Committee convention, Manan Trivedi has now swept them both.

Leading off this current round of endorsements is Bruce D. Reed, President of the Lower Merion Township Commission.
"Manan Trivedi brings an unique combination of intelligence, education and experience to this Congressional race," said Reed. "Coupled with his familiarity and understanding of the issues facing our area through having been born and raised in the Congressional District, he would be a great representative for us. And once in Congress, his medical and military experience will be invaluable in confronting the country's most important domestic and foreign policy issues."

Philadelphia - Manan Trivedi, Democratic candidate for congress in the PA 6th district, added the Teamsters BLET Division 231 to his list of endorsements from organized labor. Also known as "The Fighting 231," this division of the Teamsters represents locomotive engineers and trainmen in the southeast region of Pennsylvania and into New Jersey.

With the primary election season in full swing, the Chester County Democratic Committee gathered today to make endorsements for local and statewide candidates. In the hotly contested race for the sixth congressional district, Democrats threw their support to Manan Trivedi.

Cozzone, first elected to the Board of Commissioners in 2007, had a 20-year career in corporate finance. Cozzone stated that her support of Trivedi came down to his understanding of the community and what needs to be done to create jobs. "Manan was born and raised in this district, the son of factory workers. He knows what our working families are going through in these tough times," said Cozzone.

"We are very excited, not only about Dr. Trivedi as a primary candidate, but we are especially heartened by his prospects running against the Republican incumbent Jim Gerlach in the general," said local chairperson Mary Clark. "We need pragmatic progressives like Dr. Trivedi in the U.S. House."

"What I don't hear is Congressman Gerlach standing up to his leaders in Washington and demanding they come to the table and solve our health care problem. What I don't hear is Congressman Gerlach's conviction to do what is right. And what I clearly don't hear from Congressman Gerlach, is a public servant who is willing to listen to the public he is supposed to represent."

A little more than four months after entering the race for Pennsylvania's 6th congressional district, Democrat Manan Trivedi became the first candidate to reach and pass the milestone of receiving 100 endorsements. These endorsements represent every level of community and political leadership, and show Trivedi's broad appeal throughout the district. In releasing the names of thirty-three more supporters today, Trivedi's campaign now holds almost three times as many endorsements from individuals than both of his primary opponents combined.

"Over the years I have gotten to know the people of this region and I understand their needs. So when I was deciding who I was going to support as my next congressman, it was important for that person to be from my district and have that shared understanding of our people. It's clear. That person is Manan Trivedi," said Sen. O'Pake.

"I am truly honored by this recent show of support for our campaign. I appreciate that when leaders in the community have given me a chance to present my life's story, to explain to them how we can create jobs and reform our health care system, they make the decision to join our cause," said Trivedi.

"This is all about changing the way we do things in Washington. Just throwing money and grand ideas at a problem doesn't fix anything and it usually ends up causing more problems in the end," said Trivedi. "We have to be smarter about how we do the people's business and spend the people's money. And when it is all said and done, we have to be accountable to the people by making sure we accomplish our goals. It is time to get Pennsylvanians back to work and that is exactly what I will do in Congress," Trivedi said.

"It's been thirty-seven years since Roe v. Wade was decided, but in the halls of Congress, those who oppose reproductive freedom want to chip away at abortion rights. We must not allow complacency and compromise to destroy the rights of women to make their own medical decisions. As a member of Congress, I will always stand with NARAL Pro-Choice America and Planned Parenthood and fight to protect reproductive choices for all American women."

"The Supreme Court's decision today to allow corporations to spend endless amounts of money in an attempt to influence political campaigns is abhorrent. For many of the corporations that will engage in this spending free-for-all, the money they will be using is the very same money that taxpayers gave them to bail them out.

"Like Manan, I am a Berks County native and I am looking forward to establishing a strong working relationship with him when he is in Congress," said Rep. Santoni. "And it is because Manan was actually raised in this district, coupled with his unique set of qualifications at a physician and an Iraq War veteran will give him the best shot at returning this seat to the Democrats and will give us the representation we deserve in Washington," Santoni said.

"Nothing changes. The fact remains that being born and raised in the 6th district, my life experience and life's work still place me as the most uniquely qualified candidate, Democrat or Republican, to become our next congressman.

"By becoming a leader in Congress, I hope to demonstrate to all South Asian Americans that we can make a difference by getting involved in the civic life of America at all levels," said Trivedi.

Said Trivedi: "I am very proud of the fact that a fellow Navy veteran is the first member of Pennsylvania's congressional delegation to endorse me. Congressman Carney is a strong and effective example of what hard work, determination and service can provide to a community. I consider Chris a friend and I hope to be able to work with him on bringing an even greater voice to those who need real healthcare coverage, good paying jobs and especially our Pennsylvania veterans."

"Manan's experience as an Iraq War veteran, primary care physician, and Berks County native make him a candidate that everyone in the 6th district can rally behind," said Munsing. "His life has been devoted to serving the people of this district and it is exactly the right kind of background to serve us in Congress."

Dr. Trivedi will join other Fellows from around the country. Members of the project's advisory board include former Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright and former White House Chief of Staff, John Podesta.

"I commend the President's efforts to speak plainly and bluntly to America regarding the war in Afghanistan. His honest and direct approach is a refreshing change. However, I disagree with his assessment of the situation and his decision to send 30,000 more troops to the region.

"First we have the Doug Pike that endorses abortion 'zealots' and then we have the Doug Pike who boasts wildly that he is the lone public supporter of abortion rights," said Trivedi spokesperson Daren Berringer. "While we don't pretend to understand where Doug Pike really stands on this issue, two things are true: Doug Pike will write or say anything to get the public's attention and Manan Trivedi is pro-choice."

"Manan is authentic," said Levy. "He has a firm understanding of what this district needs because he was born and raised here. And because of those roots, Manan reflects and relates to the people of this region."

"IALI believes that Dr. Manan Trivedi is an excellent candidate for U.S. Congress," said IALI president Kathy Kulkarni. "From serving his country in Iraq, to serving his community in Pennsylvania, Manan has a strong understanding of the most pressing issues that face our nation and IALI is pleased to support him." concluded Kulkarni.

Reading, Pa - Democratic candidate for the PA 6th congressional district, Manan Trivedi announced today that he has received the endorsement of former state Senator Connie Williams. For 12 years Williams represented Montgomery County in the state legislature as both a representative and senator.

"I am honored to receive the support from two progressive and influential organizations and the communities they represent across America," said Manan Trivedi. "Every day our campaign continues to expand in the number of people who want to see us succeed and I welcome them all."

"Because 354 people have decided to put their hard-earned dollars behind my campaign, we are off to a very strong start. Given our pace in fundraising, I am confident that we will have the support necessary to deliver our message to voters in the 6th congressional district."

Malvern, Pa - Today, 2008 Democratic nominee for the 6th Congressional District, Bob Roggio, endorsed Manan Trivedi for that same seat in the upcoming 2010 elections. A resident of Chester County for over 30 years, Roggio cited Trivedi's life experience and knowledge of the district as major factors for his decision.

Reading, Pa - Today Manan Trivedi announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 6th Congressional District of Pennsylvania. A former Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy, Trivedi made his campaign for the 2010 Democratic nomination official.
Trivedi's roots in the district are deep. He grew up in Fleetwood, Berks County, and then went on to become a decorated Iraq War Veteran by serving as the Battalion Surgeon for a Marine Corps Infantry Battalion in the 5th Regiment. After his tour of service, Trivedi returned home to the district, and he now resides in Reading, where he works as a board-certified internal medicine doctor at Reading Hospital.

The use of any photos of military personnel does in no way represent an endorsement by the United States Navy or the Department of Defense.
