WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Chris Carney today endorsed Manan Trivedi for Congress, becoming the first member of the Pennsylvania delegation to publicly support the Democrat from Reading in his bid for the 6th District Congressional seat. Carney, a commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve who represents the 10th district, was elected in 2006.
"Through his work as a physician, healthcare reform advocate and military officer, Manan Trivedi has shown an admirable dedication to service," Congressman Carney said. "He has the real-life experience to help fix our country's health care system and lead the people of Pennsylvania's 6th District to new economic opportunities. His experience serving on the front lines in the Iraq war gives him invaluable perspective on issues of foreign policy and national security. We may not agree on every issue, but I can say without question that Manan Trivedi will be the type of congressman we so desperately need. I am proud to endorse his candidacy."
Said Trivedi: "I am very proud of the fact that a fellow Navy veteran is the first member of Pennsylvania's congressional delegation to endorse me. Congressman Carney is a strong and effective example of what hard work, determination and service can provide to a community. I consider Chris a friend and I hope to be able to work with him on bringing an even greater voice to those who need real healthcare coverage, good paying jobs and especially our Pennsylvania veterans."
Manan Trivedi is a former Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy, an Iraq War veteran and a primary care physician from Reading.
