Manan Trivedi Statement on 37th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade
Reading, Pa - Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania's 6th congressional district, Manan Trivedi released the following statement on the 37th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision.
"It's been thirty-seven years since Roe v. Wade was decided, but in the halls of Congress, those who oppose reproductive freedom want to chip away at abortion rights. We must not allow complacency and compromise to destroy the rights of women to make their own medical decisions. As a member of Congress, I will always stand with NARAL Pro-Choice America and Planned Parenthood and fight to protect reproductive choices for all American women."
"I support age-appropriate sex education in public schools so our children learn the facts about human reproduction and the dangers of sexually transmitted disease. As a primary care physician with experience treating women in underserved communities, I understand the need to increase access to contraception and family planning services so we can reduce unintended pregnancies."
"Roe v. Wade was an important step in establishing a woman's right to choose, but we have learned over the past thirty-seven years that our opponents will stop at nothing when creating barriers to women's reproductive choices. In Congress, I will never back down in defending abortion rights and I will be a leader in the fight to ensure every woman has access to the full range of family planning services."
Manan Trivedi is a primary care physician from Reading, a former Lt. Commander in the Navy, and an Iraq War veteran.
