Campaign Launches First Round of Influential Finance Committee
Reading, Pa - As candidates in Pennsylvania prepare to begin circulating their nominating petitions next week, it appears as though Democratic candidate for the 6th congressional seat, Manan Trivedi will be able to count on a few new signatures. The Trivedi campaign announced today that Tom McMahon, mayor of Reading and Berks County commissioner Kevin Barnhardt have endorsed his campaign. McMahon and Barhardt, prior to Trivedi entering the race, had offered their support to one of his other opponents in the primary, Doug Pike.
"Let me be clear. I respect Mr. Pike," McMahon stated. "But once Manan entered the race I felt it was my obligation to thoroughly evaluate the candidates and see who would have the best opportunity to win and would also best represent the people of this district. That person is Manan Trivedi," said McMahon. Reading's mayor went on to cite that his endorsement was in large part due to Trivedi being born and raised in the district, his unique qualifications as a primary care physician and an Iraq War veteran and his firm understanding of the issues facing the region and the nation as a whole.
Today's announcement further widens Trivedi's lead in the total number of endorsements he has received over any other candidates in the race.
"I am truly honored by this recent show of support for our campaign. I appreciate that when leaders in the community have given me a chance to present my life's story, to explain to them how we can create jobs and reform our health care system, they make the decision to join our cause," said Trivedi.
Trivedi also released the names of his finance committee today. The group is comprised of some of the most prominent names in national, statewide and local fundraising circles.
"Just as we are building our campaign on the ground, we continue to build and strengthen our fundraising team as well," said Trivedi. "I am proud of the serious campaign we have put together in just four months and with the addition of each of these individuals, our ability to succeed becomes that much greater," Trivedi concluded.
