READING, Pa - Building upon his support within the organized labor movement, Manan Trivedi today announced two more key endorsements. The Transport Worker Union, Local 234, with 5,200 members, and Iron Workers Local 405, both affiliates of the AFL-CIO, are backing the Berks County Democrat in the upcoming May 18th primary election.

"Manan understands what working families go through each day because he came from a working class community. It is his understanding of mass transit issues, his commitment to help resolve labor-management disputes, and his plans for education and job creation that makes us proud to endorse Dr. Trivedi," said TWU president, Willie Brown.

As for the Iron Workers support, the Local 405 endorsement comes just a week after Local 401's backing.

Trivedi commented on the endorsements by drawing upon the experience of his parents who immigrated to the United States and worked at the Red Cheek apple juice factory.

"When working families go through tough times, I understand their pain because I watched how my own parents had to cope once the local factory shut down. So every time I receive support from the women and men of organized labor, it only reinforces my mission to work just as hard as I can to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to live out the American dream like my mother and father," said Trivedi.

Manan Trivedi is a primary care physician, a former Lt. Commander in the Navy and an Iraq War veteran from Berks County.
