The following statement by campaign manager Ed Niles is on behalf of the Trivedi family and their announcement of the birth of their first daughter.
"Manan and Surekha Trivedi are very proud to announce the birth of their first daughter today. Sonia Kalpana Trivedi weighed in at 6 lbs 4 oz and is a very healthy addition to their family. Mother and daughter are doing well. Manan is already inquiring as to when he may be able to show off his new baby girl on the campaign trail.
"The family thanks all of those who have sent such kind emails and notes, and to those who have made phone calls to express their encouragement and well wishes.
"We hope to have photographs soon and will be happy to share them just as soon Manan calms down long enough to pose for a family portrait."
